The design of the sanitary sewer system for the St. Luke’s East campus included the gravity collection system with analysis of the City's existing lift station. It was determined that the City’s lift station capacity was not sufficient, requiring a separate lift station with two, 480 gpm, submersible chopper pumps to handle St. Luke’s facility anticipated wastewater flows.  This alternative was more cost effective than upgrading the City’s existing lift station.  The sewer system design was coordinated with the City's existing system to allow the new, 910 foot long, 6” force main to connect with the City’s existing force main, with the common force main routed to the nearby gravity sewer.  SKW also assisted with preparing an interjurisdictional agreement between St. Luke's Hospital and City of Lee's Summit to receive sewer service.
