St. Michael the Archangel Church & School
Mechanical and plumbing design services for the new 85,000 s.f. school in Leawood, Kansas was provided by SKW. The HVAC system consisted of five, single-zone and VAV rooftop units which serve the spaces. VAV boxes located above the corridors serve groups of classes with similar loads and occupancies. Care was taken to minimize sound transmission from room to room and from the rooftop equipment through the walls and roof. A kitchen was incorporated in the design with exhaust and make up air requirements accounted for. The plumbing system consisted of both large central restrooms and individual restrooms in the classrooms.
