Wishing to revitalize their downtown district, the City of Overland Park devised the Destination Downtown Overland Park Master Plan.  A major component of the plan was the construction of the 79,600 s.f. Matt Ross Community Center.  As a member of the design-build team for the $16M facility, SKW provided input on the schematic layout and site plan and prepared the site construction documents.  SKW also prepared a stormwater management study and design which involved an underground detention and water quality/infiltration system and sanitary sewer relocation plans.  Other green design features included: enlarged parking lot islands to reduce the heat island effect; sidewalks connected to adjacent neighborhoods and parking for bikes.
