Marshall, Missouri, Water Treatment Plant Disinfection System Improvements
Marshall’s water treatment plant was faced with the need to upgrade security and safety at the water treatment plant due to their use of one-ton chlorine gas cylinders. The 8 million gallon per day (mgd) plant typically used 8 to 9 one-ton chlorine cylinders per month, with as many as 14 cylinders on site any time. This presentation reviews the project background, evaluation of alternatives, and the design, bid, construction, and operation of the new disinfection system.
This presentation was given by Ginny Ismay and Kenny Clause of Marshall Municipal Utilities and Scott Williamson, P.E. of Shafer, Kline & Warren, Inc. at the 2010 MAWWA/MWEA Conference in Osage Beach, MO on March 28th and the 2010 MWWC - NE Section Conference in Macon, MO on April 13th.
