World Record BLT
April 27 marked an important day in history for SKW’s Land Survey Department. They answered the call, not to measure a property line or stake a parking lot, but to perform the most precise measurement of an attempt to break the world record for the biggest BLT (bacon, lettuce and tomato) sandwich. Associated Wholesale Grocers (AWG) challenged the previous record of 169 feet as a fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association during the spring food show at the KCI ExpoCenter in Kansas City, MO.
The highly trained survey crew made up of Scott Confer, Lee Hermrek and Barry Moore were up to the difficult task of performing the measurements for certification. Following the sandwich construction, AWG proudly announced to the anxious and hungry crowd that they had in fact, set the new world record for a BLT with a length of 209.25 feet. Sandwich video clip
