Ken Shetlar Retires from SKW after 40-Year Career


shetlar kr-dressShafer, Kline & Warren, Inc. (SKW) wishes to celebrate the career and semi-retirement of Principal and Iola Office Manager, Kenneth (Ken) Shetlar.

Ken Shetlar joined SKW as a Principal and has served as a member of firm’s Board of Directors since 1995 when the firm of Shetlar-Griffith-Shetlar merged with SKW. At that time, Ken was primary owner and manager of the Iola-based organization, whose roots began under the name of Brink and Dunwood and date back to 1946.

Ken’s 40-year career includes a number of accomplishments including licensure as a professional engineer and land surveyor. This broad background allowed him to gain experience in all phases of consulting, and establish valuable relationships with municipal clients throughout Southeast Kansas.

Retirement Celebration

Friends and associates are invited to attend a reception in Ken’s honor. The event will be held on February 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Iola Senior Center 204 North Jefferson Iola, KS 66759.

“I’ve enjoyed helping clients solve problems and appreciate the variety of projects that I have worked on during the last 40 years,” says Shetlar.

Ken’s resume of experience includes the completions of a number of recognizable projects such as Public Wholesale Water Supply District No. 13 and Critizer Dam.

Ken will remain available, on an on-call basis, to assist with specific projects and participate in maintaining existing client relationships. SKW’s Iola location will continue to provide complete engineering, surveying, and construction observation services for clients throughout Southeast Kansas. Danny Coltrane, who has spent the majority of his 17-years of experience in Iola, will expand his role in effort build upon Ken’s relationships. Also assisting will be project management transitions to Project Engineers, Jason Coltrane, and Brad Riebel.
