Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvements
The City of Parkville, MO, had been operating a sequencing batch reactor (SBR) plant for the treatment of their wastewater. Under an on-call contract, SKW prepared a Sewer Facility Plan (SFP) which included a sanitary sewer evaluation, rate study, and evaluations of the wastewater treatment plant, pump station and forcemain. As part of the SFP, SKW analyzed several options to improve the capacity and plant performance. The most cost-effective option was to convert the SBR plant into a continuous flow activated sludge system. The new treatment process converted the existing SBR basins into activated sludge tanks utilizing the existing jet aeration system and blowers.
