Golden Prairie Effluent Re-Use
SKW provided design, bid phase and construction phase services for the construction of water supply systems to deliver water to the proposed ethanol production plant at the Golden Prairie Industrial Park. The system's included: wastewater effluent advanced treatment (filtration, disinfection), reservoir water pumping, gravity pipelines, pressure mains, storage tank, radio control systems, PLC control system, small metal building, chemical feed systems, piping, valves, etc.
The ethanol plant receives a mixture of lake water with the WWTP effluent, treated to a level so the water is used for cooling tower water, etc. The City provides potable water for their process water needs. Approximate cost of potable water to the ethanol plant was $4.00 per 1,000 gallons and non-potable water was $1.00 per 1,000 gallons.
