On-Call Traffic Calming (Westheight)

Struggling with high speed and traffic volume issues, four residential areas in Kansas City, KS sought help. As a consultant, SKW collected traffic counts on neighborhood streets and facilitated a meeting with citizens.  Based on input from public officials and the citizens, SKW proposed to temporarily lay out three roundabouts along with median islands at numerous locations to effectively reduce the width of the streets and slow traffic through the neighborhoods. This project was honored by the American Public Works Association - Kansas City Chapter as runner-up Project of the Year.
