Excelsior Springs Stormwater Management Plan
Phase II of the Federal Clean Water Act requires cities, within a certain population density, to meet the six minimum measures for stormwater management; and the Excelsior Springs was required by MDNR to comply. SKW was involved in addressing the management plan, collecting public information, and developing a geographic information system (GIS) of the City. The management plan was created in order to develop the specific, measurable best management practice goals. A public questionnaire was created covering topics that include existing flooding problems, maintenance, planning and funding mechanisms to pay for improvements. A GIS was created to map the City’s stormwater network, based on GPS data provided by the City.
