The Jim Bridger bridge replacement on Lydia Avenue in Kansas City, MO was designed by SKW.  The initial site study revealed that the replacement would require raising the bridge crossing 15', realigning the Indian Creek channel and stream bank, and take into consideration the planned extension of a pedestrian trail within the site parameters. SKW determined the appropriate replacement design would call for a 261', three-span (78'-115'-78'), precast prestressed concrete, I-girder structure with a 48' wide bridge deck.  Additionally, the design would increase the creek's capacity and help manage the effects of a 100-year flood event.
