I-70 Mill & Overlay (K-253 to Sherman/Thomas Line)
The land surveying and engineering design services for the rehabilitation of I-70 in Sherman County, KS, was provided by SKW. The project included mill and overlay, with light grading and guard fence from K-253 east 7.9 miles to the Sherman-Thomas county line. Survey crews used HDS; and the bridge at the east end of the project was electronically scanned creating accurate survey documentation based on point clouds. The three-dimensional image allowed the design team to visualize the clearance limits and pinpoint the location of minimum clearance.
