Faced with a need for a new Justice Center to better serve the public’s safety, the City of Shawnee, Kansas, planned a LEED™-certified public facility focused on protecting the environment, preserving occupant health and conserving energy.  This design-build project included multiple buildings ranging in size from 18,000 to 60,000 s.f., a gasoline fueling station, visitor parking, staff/police vehicles, service drives, and a communications tower.   SKW's civil site design for the 28-acre campus included grading, lighting, landscape and full utility services.  SKW’s design minimized waste, utilized native landscape features and promoted sound water conservation practices.  The $14M LEED™-certified, design-build facility opened in 2008.
