Cemetery GIS Database Creation
The City of Moberly, MO, manages the Oakland Cemetery which covers 105 acres and contains 7,000 cemetery lots and six public mausoleums. To assist the public in finding the resting place of friends and relatives, the City wanted to link their cemetery records into a convenient GIS format. SKW converted the Cemetery plats into an ESRI shape file and created tables containing the records. These records were joined within an ArcMap session to create a map showing the location of those interred. (This data conversion project was similar to creating property ownership records for a small to midsize city).
