North Kansas City, MO Upon completion of a GIS Needs Assessment Plan, SKW was invited into a three-year agreement with the City of North Kansas City, MO, to manage implementation of the plan. Serving as the coordinator of the City's GIS Steering Committee, SKW helped the committee set priorities for implementation. Based upon the City's overall goals and constraints, SKW recommended a rapid data development implementation approach. This approach gives City staff the ability to access, view and query aerial images and the location of City facilities early in the development process. The access to the geospatial data is being established through SKW's implementation of a GIS plan based on an ArcIMS intranet software platform.
Acting as manager and developer for the program, SKW responded to the City's need to emphasize a low-maintenance, user-friendly system which could easily be built upon during future implementation phases. The Steering Committee will continue to evaluate options for GIS implementation as software environments and the City's needs change over time. |
