Comprehensive Park Plan
Neosho, MO

The City of Neosho, MO, selected SKW to develop a Comprehensive Park Master Plan for the community park system.  The plan consisted of initial assessments and inventory, design, preparation of plans, and construction cost estimates, including plan development and management recommendations.  The final plan promoted Neosho's unique geology while improving the community's recreational opportunities.

The project, funded by an NRCS matching grant, began with SKW's study of the cultural, natural and architectural elements of Big Spring and Morse Parks.  Special attention was given to existing recreational features while determining the future needs of the community.  SKW took a park land inventory identifying facilities and amenities helping the City to plan for maintenance and upgrades.  The assessment included evaluating the parks based upon community goals, recreational trends and ADA requirements.

Preliminary design of two master plans was submitted for City review.  The plans included location and layout of park facilities, cost estimates and recommendations for phasing to meet the proposed budget.  The plan was also reviewed and refined by a collaborative effort by the Park Planning Board and SKW's project team.  The final design represented a concise and realistic park master plan reflective of the developing Neosho community.
