Prairie Creek Greenway Trail
Platte County, MO

SKW was selected to lead the design of a 7.8-mile trail to connect adjacent subdivisions with Prairie Creek Greenway, a 119-acre site south of Platte City, MO, which features 9.5 acres of native prairie land.

SKW’s services included preparing cost estimates for Phase I and II project implementation, coordination of permits, design of the trail structure, preparation of construction documents, design of eight pedestrian bridges, cost estimates and specifications for soliciting bids.  The project also involved parking area and storm sewers.  SKW assisted the County throughout the bidding process and ensured the project met the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) and US Army Corps of Engineers water quality requirements.

Phase I involved a prairie restoration element.  The greenway gained historic significance when an axe head dating back to the Paleolithic era was discovered in the streambed.
