| Lamine River Bridge Replacement |
|
Cooper County, MO SKW was selected by Cooper County to provide bridge design and construction phase services in replacing Bridge #23100131 BRO -031(12) over the Lamine River in Missouri. The project produced a 304'-9", four-span prestressed concrete I-girder bridge. There were several site specific design considerations: a high rock bluff on one side and a river bottom on the other; the old bridge had to be kept open as long as possible; and there was a need to avoid the Katy Trail bridge. The site specific solution was to design the new county bridge on an alignment between the existing bridges with a 40 degree skew on a 8% grade to avoid a lot of roadway fill which would impede the flow of floodwater. The project was designed in accordance with the BRO bridge replacement program, in which 80% of the project cost was paid with federal transportation funds. The roadway is 24' wide and was designed for a traffic speed of 30 mph.
SKW’s scope of services included surveying; bridge design; preliminary, right-of-way and construction plans; bid elevation; and construction observation and administration services. Also included were environmental permit assistance, coordination of utility relocation, and right-of-way acquisition assistance. |
