| South Main Viaduct over Union Pacific Railroad |
|
Independence, MO SKW was selected to conduct a study and provide design alternatives to the City of Independence, MO, for replacement of the South Main Street viaduct - a historic, 3-span bridge built in 1910, which spans a Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) spur. SKW coordinated the bridge design requirements with the City, UPRR, City's Historic Preservation Representative, and Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) to develop a design that met the requirements of all parties involved. SKW prepared a design with structural elevations, preliminary plans with construction details and right-of-way plans for all necessary easements.
Other services included compiling comments gathered at a public forum, traffic detouring during construction, aesthetic improvement design, coordinating utilities relocation, preparing working drawings, estimating project construction costs and bid documents. The project was funded locally. |
