Lenexa, KS

Applebee's International Inc. selected SKW to contribute to the project team responsible for development of the new headquarters in Lenexa, KS. The primary office facility is a 200,000 s.f. Support Center located on 30.7 acres in the Southlake Technology Park. The building accommodates 600 employees and was occupied in late 2007.  SKW provided survey and civil engineering services for the site including plans for stormwater management, site conservation, water quality control, erosion control, utilities infrastructure, public improvements and parking. 

The building incorporated sustainable design strategies in the pursuit of a Silver LEED accreditation.  One of the sustainable design strategies provided for the site work by SKW included a forbay, sand filter and wetland system which not only cleans the stormwater runoff from the site itself, but also filters the low flows from the public stormwater system.  Multiple vegetated swales and a rain garden in the parking lot were also incorporated into the sustainable design of the site to address stormwater quality.
