Gladstone, MO

SKW provided survey, civil site and structural engineering services to develop approximately three acres of rundown property into the new, award-winning Plaza 57 retail center in Gladstone, MO.  Before development, the site held an abandoned Midas Muffler shop and parking lot.  The building and asphalt were removed, and SKW designed the utilities, grading, parking lot, storm drainage, the plat and improvement of 400’ of Northwest 57th Street.  SKW worked with the City and developer to successfully resolve legal complications concerning a strip of ground between Plaza 57 and the property to the north that had never been owned and could not be used as an easement for the sewer.  Construction on the single-story, 16,000 s.f. retail center was completed in 2006.  The project received the Clay County Economic Development 2006 Keystone Award.
