Mission Farms Residential

Leawood, KS

SKW was selected to provide civil engineering, site planning, landscape design, sanitary sewer design, construction staking, and field observation of the installation of the sewer lines for Mission Farms, an upscale mixed-use development located at 107th and Mission Road in Leawood, KS.  This 72-acre site, once home to the original Saddle and Sirloin Club, is now location to a single-family residential neighborhood, residential condominiums, retail stores, and commercial offices.

The single-family residential neighborhood, completed in January 2001, is located on the north end of the site with 19 lots that average around two acres and $1.6 million each.  On the south end of the site is 340,000 s.f. of development, including a total of six buildings with retail stores on the lower levels, and a mix of 60 residential condominiums and commercial office space on the upper levels.  An underground parking garage with 127 spaces accommodates the condominiums.  Phase I of the retail/condominium/commercial portion of the project was completed in late 2006; Phase II was completed in early 2008; and final phases will be finished over a few years.

The southern section of the development was within the flood plain.  SKW overcame this challenge by preparing plans that raised the site.  SKW received approval from FEMA to revise the flood plain location.
